Strict control of raspberries
According to local media, the EU has warned Serbia that it has found traces of lead and pesticides in significant quantities of last year's raspberry exports to the EU.
The EU had warned Serbia that this year's control will be even stronger.
Serbian agricultural experts have warned Serbian farmers to be very careful concerning the application of pesticides and herbicides and to strictly heed all regulations concerning pesticides and heavy metals. Testing of soils may also be necessary.
It is interesting to note that recent Serbian sugar exports to the EU also encountered some resistance, in the way of erroneous media reports concerning the provenience of that sugar. Sugar fraud scandal - Rory O'Sullivan
Confirmed chemical analysis reports on Serbian raspberry exports to the EU are not yet available.
