Dafimet embezzler to be quizzed on Monday
BELGRADE – Dafina Milanovic, former owner of collapsed pyramid savings scheme Dafimet Bank, is to be questioned at Belgrade’s Central Prison on Monday, where she is currently being held.
Milanovic, charged with embezzlement in 1999, had been held in detention in Germany from December of last year until the order for her extradition was carried out last Thursday.
After fleeing the former Yugoslavia in 1999, Milanovic spent most of her time in Switzerland, where she was refused an application for political asylum.
According to the Belgrade press, Milanovic is to be charged with abusing her official position and swindling 150,000 clients out of their savings, amounting to over 9.5 million euros.
