US Congress to vote on support for Serbian reforms
WASHINGTON – The US Congress House of Representatives has paid tribute tot he late Serbian Prime Minister Zoran Djindjic as the spearhead of democratic and economic reform in Serbia.
“The late prime minister was the main strategist and organizer of the opposition’s participation in the Yugoslav elections in September 2000 and the people’s rebellion on October 5, which resulted in the ousting of Slobodan Milosevic and his subsequent extradition to the Hague Tribunal, reads the resolution to be tabled in the House.
Describing the murder of Djindjic as a loathsome attack on democracy, the proposition calls for US support for democratic reforms and the struggle against crime and corruption.
