New decree for oil imports abolishes monopoly
BELGRADE – Kori Udovicki, Serbian Mining and Energy Minister, today announced the government’s adoption of a new decree covering the import and refining of crude oil and oil products.
Speaking at a press conference, Udovicki said: “The new decree provides equality in the market to all participants, both private importers and Serbian Oil Industries; establishment of competition at the oil market, improvement of oil product's quality and sale services, as well as reduction of oil prices”.
The new decree will come into effect on 1 May this year and will be valid until June of 2006.
The new decree bans the free import of oil products, with the exception of market disturbances, which will be determined by either the Ministry of Energy or the Ministry of Trade.
