Tobacco industry tenders for privatization
Monday, March 31st, privatization tenders for tobacco industries producers DIN (Nis) and DIV (Vranje) were announced. Five of this regions leading local and foreign tobacco companies (Philip Morris, British American Tobacco, Galaher, Altadis, Japan International Tobacco) appear to be eager to participate in the process. The market of Serbia, Montenegro and Kosovo reaches 22 billion cigarettes annually. When passage of a new law regulating the tobacco industry occurs
within the next two years, only DIN and DIV will have licenses for cigarette production in Serbia.
