Domestic agriculture protection
In 2002 Serbia imported 4,114 tons of meat (0.86% of total production).
Last year the milk and milk products import rose by 90% compared to precedent year. The milk product importation is equal to 3% of total production.
In goal to protect domestic agriculture production the import taxes on agriculture products will be increased by 30% to 100% - Deputy Agriculture Minister Dragan Markovic declared.
The high wine, early fruit and vegetables import from Macedonia (there is a free trade agreement between Serbia and Macedonia) will be audited.
The Agriculture Ministry prepares control instruments for the sugar export and import, especially with EU countries.
