Bank scammer may delay extradition for months
BELGRADE – The extradition of Dafiment Bank owner Dafina Milanovic from Germany could take more than a year, the federal Minorities Ministry warned today.
The ministry has still not received official notice of the extradition, agreed to by a German court more than a month ago.
Extradition of foreign nationals from Germany may sometimes drag out for years, although between six months and a year is the usual time for proceedings to be completed.
Milanovic is wanted in Serbia to face criminal charges of embezzlement and abuse of authority.
Her Dafiment Bank, essentially a pyramid savings scheme, collapsed in the early 1990s after hundreds of thousands of Serbs invested their life savings in it.
