Indebted shipyard sold to mystery buyer
NOVI SAD – The Apatin shipyard has been sold at auction for 20,051,000 dinars to an unidentified investor.
The Vojvodina shipyard was sold at auction to a broker representing the yard’s new owner. The broker bypassed the first round of the auction, waiting until the second round in order to be able to pay the asking price in foreign currency saving bonds.
The shipyard has debts amounting to 13 million euros and speculation surrounds the identity of the new owner, with one source claiming it is a Belgrade businessman, while another claims it is a former Montenegrin MP.
