Serbian Pork Price crisis
The wholesale price of pork has dropped dramatically here recently. Pork is selling at a price of 40-45 dinars (€0.63-0.71) per kg and 57-63 dinars (€0.90-0.99) per kg for meat originating from larger farms. Normal production costs of pork are 65 dinars (€1.02) per kg.
There is a great danger of a mass butchery of pigs if the government doesn't buy off the market surplus of pork, or implement other price control measures.
