Montenegrin presidential elections called
PODGORICA – Filip Vujanovic, Montenegrin Parliamentary Speaker, today scheduled the Montenegrin presidential elections for 11 May.
The deadline for submission of candidacies for the election has been set as 21 April.
Vujanovic, the joint candidate of the Montenegrin coalition parties – the Democratic Party of Socialists and the Social Democratic Party – won the majority of votes in both of the recent unsuccessful presidential elections and is likely to run again.
Meanwhile, Montenegro’s main opposition parties – the Coalition for Changes and Liberal Alliance – today failed to reach an agreement on a joint presidential candidate.
A statement was issued, which confirmed their strong determination to nominate a joint candidate for the upcoming election, and that talks would resume in a few days.
