Empty business space, shadow economy and unused capital
In Serbia there is more than 14 million m²
of empty business and work space. The turnover of the shadow or gray economy is $6 billion, citizens hold $4.5 billion in their own homes [rather than in savings accounts], bank savings accounts are worth $800 million, the central bank has $2.5 billion in cash reserves and Serbs who live abroad annually earn $25 billion, says Branko Dragas, economic analyst.
