Belgrade and Sofia sign infrastructure deal
SOFIA – Serbia-Montenegro and Bulgaria yesterday signed an agreement, which is set to rapidly improve cross-border transport in the region.
The accord relates to a stretch of the so-called European corridor 10, between Belgrade, Sofia and
Skopje, via Nis.
The deal, which was signed by Foreign Ministers Solomon Passi of Bulgaria and Goran Svilanovic of Serbia-Montenegro, will see the direct linking of Sofia and the Serbian city of Nis by railway and motorway.
The project is part of the Balkans stability pact that was agreed after the 1999 Kosovo conflict to help develop democracy and the region's infrastructure.
