European Commission to discuss import of sugar from West Balkans next week
BRUSSELS - The European Commission has still not decided whether and how it will reduce or even fully suspend the import of sugar from West Balkan countries, but a decision on this issue is most likely to be made next week.
Last year, Serbia's sugar exports to the European Union amounted to about 150 million dollars. The European Union says that such deals have
destabilized the sugar markets in Greece, Austria and Italy, although opinions can be heard that these are not large quantities.
