Serbian bank to permit dinar fluctuation
BELGRADE — Serbia’s central bank today said it would permit wider fluctuations of the dinar this year, in light of continued macroeconomic stability and a balance of payment surplus.
Mladjan Dinkic, governor of the National Bank of Serbia, told investors attending the third annual investors forum that it would allow a more flexible exchange rate arrangement because domestic inflation was down to single digits.
Dinkic said that a $1.2 billion balance of payment surplus had helped the currency to maintain relatively stable.
