Djindjic: Essence is what matters
Belgrade - 'As regards announced change of state symbols I am not supporter of symbolism but of the essence. The essence is that 200 years ago the Serbian State was renewed with basic ideals of freedom, independence and civil society. There were attempts by that state to approach Europe. Such attempts failed then because of confrontation between Austria-Hungary and Russia. Serbia was the victim of that polarization. Then came polarization between the communist and west blocs. Now for the first time we can establish our state in a friendly surrounding', Serbian Prime Minister Zoran Djindjic said.
