Serbia and Montenegro still far away from EU
Belgrade - 'The plan that our country joins European Union in 2010 is ambitious but achievable', G17 Plus leader Miroljub Labus said.
At presentation of book 'Europe from A to Z' Labus pointed out that the main condition for membership of Serbia and Montenegro in European Union was our good will and that we all should understand what was expecting us on that way.
Chief of European Commission delegation in Serbia and Montenegro Geoffrey Barrette said that prospective for admission of Serbia and Montenegro to European Union was still far away. 'The first step is normal functioning of the union. EU is going to follow up that functioning. European Commission will make a feasibility study about possible beginning of negotiations regarding agreement about association and stabilization that will be signed after approval by EU Council of Ministers', Barrette said. Signing of that agreement will be the first formal agreement between Serbia and Montenegro and European Union.
