Smiljanic says Crvenka Sugar Refinery is model for bad privatization
BELGRADE - The Crvenka Sugar Refinery was not sold, but snatched up by the Greek company Hellenic Sugar and probably some home company, which sheds light on crimes behind our
privatization process, head of the Association of Serbia's Independent Trade Unions Milenko Smiljanic said on Thursday.
Speaking at a news conference, Smiljanic explained how Crvenka "fell into the hands of the daughter, rather than the owner of the company who took part in the tender" and that this was achieved through threats, pressure and intimidation of the
companies' young management. He stressed that "three members of the Serbian State Security Department" had also taken part in this.
