Serbia-Montenegro's economic policy in line with IMF programme
BELGRADE - Economic policy implementation in the Union of Serbia and Montenegro has been broadly in line with the International Monetary Fund's (IMF) three-year Extended Arrangement programme, with the observation of all end-December 2002 performance criteria referring to credit, fiscal and external targets, it was concluded after two-week talks between the IMF Mission and the Union's delegation.
There was also progress in structural reforms, with the introduction of a new payments system on January 1, accelerated
privatization of enterprises through tenders and auctions, making of a strategy for bank
privatization and improvements in tax administration, a statement released by the Office of the IMF Resident Representative in Serbia and Montenegro said on Wednesday.
