G17 Plus launches political consensus project
BELGRADE – G17 Plus has begun a series of bilateral talks with other political parties aimed at reaching consensus on issues of national importance.
Yesterday’s meeting, the first in the series, was with the Civil Alliance of Serbia, the party led by Federal Foreign Minister Goran Svilanovic.
The meeting came to the conclusion that the broadest possible consensus was needed on a new constitution for Serbia and continuing economic reform to pull the state out of a steadily worsening political and institutional crisis.
Party representative Ksenija Milivojevic said today that the consultations, which will be held with all democratically-oriented parties, would continue over the next three weeks.
None of the parties approached had refused the discussions, she said, adding that G17 Plus was even willing to meet representatives of Zoran Djindjic’s Democratic Party.
