Two thirds of citizens for independent Serbia
Belgrade - Majority of citizens of Serbia /47.2 per cent/ think that state union of Serbia and Montenegro is not going to survive in a longer period of time. Only 22.5 per cent of them believe it will. These are results of public opinion research that Center for marketing research 'Marten Board International', licensed partner of British Market Research Bureau of London /www.martenboard.co.yu/ conducted in cooperation with our daily newspapers in the first week of February.
Almost 71.4 per cent of citizens are of the opinion that referendum on independence of Serbia is necessary. Only 17.3 per cent of citizens think it is not.
Almost two thirds of citizens /63 per cent/ think that Serbia should be independent state while 19.4 per cent consider union with Montenegro as necessary.
Majority of Serbian citizens does not support candidate Svetozar Marovic for the first president of Serbia and Montenegro. On the other hand 24.5 per cent support this Montenegrin politician.
This research covered at random stratified sample of 589 citizens of Serbia /without Kosovo and Metohija/.
