Montenegrin election fails again
PODGORICA – Yesterday's repeated Montenegrin election again failed to elect a president for the republic, with only 47.1 per cent of registered voters casting a ballot.
Under Montenegro’s election rules, the turnout must be over 50 per cent to validate the poll.
According to one lobby group monitoring the election, Democratic Party of Socialists candidate Filip Vujanovic won 82 per cent of the votes cast.
Because of poor weather conditions in the north of Montenegro, 74 of the republic’s total 1,102 polling stations did not open today.
The Republic Election Commission said today it will set a date for the 6,515 voters registered in the are to vote.
