European Investment Bank to finance regional projects
LUXEMBOURG – The European Investment Bank is to invest more than four hundred million euros over the next three to four years to connect five western Balkan countries with the European traffic network.
The bank will finance construction and upgrading of highways, railways, airports and shipping ports.
The plan involves 120 infrastructure projects proposed to international financial institutions and to the European Commission.
The largest number of projects, forty, was proposed by Serbia-Montenegro while the other countries have each submitted twenty projects.
Priority will be given to projects which provide broad regional links.
