No mercy for Serbian electricity consumers
BELGRADE – Serbian electricity consumers, still reeling from price rises which saw many power bills double or triple early last year, are to be hit with another 25 or 30 per cent hike.
Finance Minister Bozidar Djelic told media that the increase, planned for April, would be the last this year.
He described the increase as necessary to ensure a healthy economy and sufficient power, noting that last year’s increases had
stabilized the power supply.
This year would be the year of reforms in the local power authority, said Djelic, adding that cheaper production of electricity was being developed.
