Brandishing the new state plaque
BELGRADE – Less than 24 hours after the announcement of the new state, the Yugoslav National Bank was sporting a brand new plaque with the words, “Serbian National Bank”.
The new state constitution does not provide for a central bank – only banks of the member countries – Serbia and Montenegro.
Yugoslav National Bank Director Mladjan Dinkic told RTS that the “Serbian National Bank” inscription was put up in line with the decrees of the Constitutional Charter.
“According to the legal advice we have received, Act 13 clearly states that the Serbian National Bank is a continuation of the Yugoslav National Bank, but that does not mean my position is guaranteed”, said Dinkic.
