Joining European Union conditional upon protection of consumers
BELGRADE - A protection of consumers is part of the policy Yugoslavia has to adopt if it wants to join the European Union (EU), European Commission chief Geoffrey Barret said at the Yugoslav Chamber of Commerce on Tuesday.
At a conference on Yugoslav consumer and process of EU integration, which was
organized by the Advisory Centre for Economic and Legal Issues (SCEPP) and the European Agency for Reconstruction (EAR), Barret pointed out that it was essential that specific mechanisms be created as soon as possible, so that they could begin functioning when required.
