Constitutional Charter and supplementary law adopted
BELGRADE - The Constitutional Charter of the new state of Serbia and Montenegro and the law on its implementation have tonight been adopted by the Serbian Parliament in full.
Of the 250 MPs present at tonight’s session, 216 MPs cast votes for both the Charter and the additional law.
One hundred and sixty six MPs voted for the Charter, 47 voted against, and 3 abstained from casting votes.
With respect to the law on the charter’s implementation, 130 voted for the law, 83 voted against it, whilst again 3 MPs abstained.
Vojislav Kostunica’s Democratic Party of Serbia voted for the Charter but against the law, whilst the Christian Democratic Party of Serbia voted for the law but not the Charter.
The Serbian Parliament began its first extraordinary sitting of the year today, ten months after the signing of the Belgrade Agreement.
