Five thousand protest in Bor
BOR – Roughly five thousand people assembled in front of the Bor Culture centre today to protest about the Mining-smelter Complex Bor.
Residents of Bor and Majdanpek were addressed by Bor Mayor Krsta Kalcic and by the head of the Bor independent
labor union Dragisa Trujkic.
The protesters booed Kalcic throwing firecrackers and other objects at him.
Trujkic announced a meeting of the labor unions’ council.
He added that the council is expected to send a letter to the Serbian Prime Minister and government demanding an urgent government meeting and the passage of a special law on the Bor and Majdanpek municipalities, as announced by the Serbian Prime Minister during his last visit to Bor.
The second demand requests that the Prime Minister and other government officials come to Bor immediately to solve the problem of the Mining-smelter Complex in Bor.
