Minister Vlahovic rejects criticism of privatization process
BELGRADE - Serbian Economy and Privatization Minister Aleksandar Vlahovic rejected on Tuesday criticism that the process of privatization of socially-owned enterprises in Serbia is too slow and explained that ownership transformation of the economy is not a linear process, and that in the first year of privatization emphasis was placed on the building of institutions (Agency) for carrying out the process in a public and transparent manner.
At the auction of ten Serbian enterprises in the Chamber of Commerce of Yugoslavia, attended also by a delegation of the World Bank, headed by the Bank's vice-president Shenngman Zhang, Vlahovic added that in 2003 will be put up for auction 1,300 to 1,500 firms, or about 120 each month.
