Yugoslav Foreign Minister discussed admission of Yugoslavia into WTO
GENEVA - Admission of Serbia and Montenegro into the World Trade Organization (WTO) was the main topic of the meeting between Yugoslav Foreign Minister Goran Svilanovic and WTO General Director Supachi Panitchpakdi in Geneva on Tuesday. In his telephone interview to Tanjug, Svilanovic said that he had informed the WTO General Director about the Constitutional Charter and the future organization of the Council of Ministers of Serbia and Montenegro, and that it had been agreed to organize a meeting between the WTO representatives and a future minister for foreign economic relations right after the adoption of the Charter and the election of the state union organs, aimed at discussing the actual admission process.
Svilanovic also said that "the key issues of Yugoslavia's admission into the WTO are depending on the harmonization between Serbia and Montenegro," and the status of this process would be specified at this meeting.
