Djindjic and Djukanovic agree on state functions
BELGRADE – Serbian Prime Minister Zoran Djindjic and his Montenegrin counterpart Milo Djukanovic today agreed on a division of functions in the new joint state.
Under the deal, Serbia is to manage diplomatic and military resources while the foreign economic relations and domestic trade portfolio will go to Montenegro.
In the new state Goran Svilanovic will remain as head of foreign affairs and Rasim Ljajic as minorities minister, while Zoran Zivkovic will be the new defense minister.
The present speaker of the Chamber of Citizens of the Federal Parliament, Dragoljub Micunovic, will also chair the new parliament.
The former speaker of the Montenegrin Parliament, Svetozar Marovic, is to be president of the new state.
