Yugoslav foreign currency reserves reach 3.1 billion dollars
BELGRADE - The National Bank of Yugoslavia has decided to lower its discount rate from 9.5 to 9 pct annually, said on Wednesday National Bank of Yugoslavia governor Mladjan Dinkic, and pointed out that that the country's foreign currency reserves have increased by 200 million dollars to 3.1 billion dollars.
The reduction of the discount rate by the National Bank of Yugoslavia will be a clear signal both to the economy and to commercial banks that we have the intention to fulfill this year's monetary policy goal of an annual inflation rate of 9 pct, Dinkic said at a press conference.
