Fines for failing to produce receipts
BELGRADE – Serbia’s financial inspectors have taken to the streets in a campaign to force retailers to issue receipts for all sales.
Customers failing to produce a receipt, even for a packet of chewing gum or a loaf of bread will find themselves subject to a heavy fine.
Assistant Trade Minister Ljubisa Dimitrijevic warned today that inspectors had mostly issued warnings for the first two weeks of the new law, but said that from now on all infringements of the Sales Tax Act would be punished.
