Minimum Wages 4.350 Dinars in Next Six Months
Belgrade - Minimum wages of the employed in Serbia in first six months 2003 will be 4350 dinars, was the decision of social partners in Serbian government.
The amount of the minimum wages was established by the representatives of the Serbian government, Union of Employers of Serbia and three independent unions – Alliance of Independent Unions of Serbia, United Branch Unions ‘Independence’ and Association of the Free and Independent Unions.
Serbian Minister of Labor and Employment Dragan Milovanovic stated at the press conference after the meeting that the minimum was a social category. It is the smallest salary that an employed could get. Minimum salary has increased 11.1 per cent compared to the one that an employed received in last six months of the last year, that is, from 22.5 to 25 dinars per hour.
The new amount was set according to factors of life costs, inflation of nine per cent, ‘consumer’s basket’ (pre-specified amount of necessary food for a family of four per month) of November worth 10 410 dinars, unemployment rate of 28 per cent, the number of the employed and the planned growth of gross national product of five per cent.
