Telekom workers seek equity
BELGRADE – A trade union representing Telekom Serbia workers has demanded the company issue shares to employees before restructuring of the company begins.
The employees are demanding changes to the Privatization Act, which stipulates that employees do not have the right to free shares in the even of a company being restructured.
“The employees, who have invested in the development of the company for years, even before the establishment of Telekom, as employees of the postal service, will take every possible legal action to secure their right to shares,” said the union in a statement.
The union claims that staff were cheated of shares in 1997 when part of the company was sold to Italian and Greek investors.
