Djindjic: Regional Connecting Before Admission to EU
Belgrade - Serbian Prime Minister Zoran Djindjic assessed that it was necessary for Serbia to create a regional bloc with the Balkan countries before admission to the EU.
‘Serbia aspires to enter the EU, but it is necessary to create a regional bloc prior to that, with the neighbors at the Balkan peninsula’, said Djindjic in an interview to Brazilian daily ‘O Estado de S. Paulo’, also published at the Serbian government web site. Serbian prime Minster led Yugoslav delegation at the inauguration of the newly elected Brazilian president Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva.
Djindjic said the goal of Serbia and Montenegro was to have whole Balkan peninsula integrated into one market before entering the EU. ‘We find it illogical to waste time and have some strict boundaries, if few years later we will all enter the EU without borders’, said Djindjic.
