Serbian Government to assist construction companies
BELGRADE - Serbian Minister for Urban Planning and Construction Dragoslav Sumarac has announced that his Ministry plans to assist the domestic construction companies in the European market.
However, the state cannot pay the debts owed to these companies by their foreign partners for the construction works done abroad, the Minister emphasized.
Foreign countries have large debts to our companies, especially for the construction works done in Libya and Iraq “but the state has nothing to do with this because the company managements signed these contracts and this was their business policy”, explained Minister Sumarac.
The state can help re-structure these companies and offer social programs, but it cannot pay the debts of former company directors, said Sumarac, adding that such cases of abuse must be punished for in court.
