Montenegro 'insists' on right to appoint president
PODGORICA – It is in the interests of both Serbia and Montenegro to establish the new state union as soon as possible, Montenegro’s prime minister designate, Milo Djukanovic, said today.
Djukanovic also said that the tiny coastal republic insists on the right to select the president of the new state.
It was vital to Montenegro to be adequately represented at the federal level, he said.
“There won’t be any problems as long as we stick to the Belgrade Agreement and the regulations that we’ve jointly included in the Constitutional Charter,” Djukanovic told media.
He dismissed the delays in establishing the new state as “the calculated attempts of easily recognizable forces to resist any changes, and attempts to depart from the Belgrade Agreement”.
