Djelic calls for IMF office in Podgorica
PODGORICA – Serbian Finance Minister Bozidar Djelic, today backed a proposal for the International Monetary Fund to open an office in Podgorica.
Montenegro should be directly represented in international financial institutions, he said.
Djelic warned that Serbia’s proposal for the National Bank of Serbia to represent both republics on the international scene for the interim period had been misinterpreted in the southern republic.
“They have understood this as calling for Montenegro’s connection with the IMF to be severed.
“However, we have agreed to the IMF opening an office in Podgorica and Montenegro having its own representatives in international financial institutions,” said Serbia’s finance minister.
