Unemployment up 15.7 per cent this year
BELGRADE – Serbia currently has 902,310 unemployed, up 15.7 per cent on this time last year, the head of the Republic Market Institute said today.
Svetozar Krstic told media that the additional 122,000 unemployed were a consequence of restructuring in the economy.
Of the total number of unemployed, about 526,000 have never worked, adding that next year’s priority would be professional training for graduates to equip them for employment.
Krstic added that 480,000 new jobs would be created during 2003.
