Most important for reforms to take root: Djindjic
BELGRADE - The most important thing next year is for the economic reforms “to take root” in Serbia for this would prove that they are not of a temporary nature, Serbian Prime Minister Zoran Djindjic has said.
"This way, the people will realize that reforms are an irreversible process that can be faster or slower. If you ask me where this Rubicon is, which, when passed, permits no returns, I would say that this Rubicon is a percentage of public and private economy. We have not passed it yet, most people in our country still work in the public economy sector”, said the Prime Minister.
“In my opinion the next year is crucial, in the sense that, sometime probably in summer, we will be able to say that most of the people in our country are getting their pays and have income working in private companies which do business in a market economy and make profit. We should have a minority of people working in public and state companies”, Djindjic explained.
Djindjic added that “fake” privatizations should be prevented and announced that the Government is planning to launch a campaign next year for the
modernization and re-structuring of public companies.
