No sudden changes in dinar rate in 2003
BELGRADE - The National Bank of Yugoslavia (NBJ) will not allow any sudden changes in dinar exchange rate next year, because it would jeopardize the competitiveness of the local industry in foreign markets, NBJ Governor Mladjan Dinkic said on Friday.
Dinkic told a press conference that in case of sudden increases or drops of the dinar rate the NBJ would intervene with its reserves, in order to preserve the national currency's stability. This would be done particularly in case of the dinar rate increase, because this would not be good for the competitiveness of the local industry in foreign markets.
