Yugoslavia and Croatia sign free trade agreement
BELGRADE - Yugoslav Deputy Prime Minister Miroljub Labus and Croatian Minister for Economy Ljubo Jurcic signed today in Belgrade a free trade agreement between the two countries.
Labus said this agreement was in important step in normalizing relations between Yugoslavia and Croatia.
Once this document is ratified by the Federal Parliament, 70 per cent of industrial products and 30 percent of agricultural products will be exempted from customs duty, Labus explained.
"As for the visa regime, Croatia is thinking of extending the duration of visas, because easy flow of goods, capital and people is our mutual interest”, said Labus.
Jurcic said that the conditions for abolishing visas for Yugoslav citizens are limiting because Croatia has adopted a national program for association with the European Union.
People wait in line at the border to cross into Croatia longer than they wait for a visa at the Croatian Consulate, explained Jurcic.
"Croatia is very eager to cooperate, and the agreement that we have signed is far more than just economically important”, said Jurcic.
