Labus warns of potentially damaging EU policy
BELGRADE – G17 Plus leader Miroljub today warned that the current policy of the European Union was “not helping” to preserve the joint state of Serbia and Montenegro.
He described the mediation mission of EU foreign policy chief Javier Solana as “not very good”, claiming that the former head of NATO was biased towards the Montenegrin side in the negotiations.
“My aim is not to fight with Solana, I have no intention of doing that, but what Brussels is doing now is not helping to preserve the joint state and is neither in their interest nor ours. The policy on Kosovo is also not helping,” said Labus, who is a deputy federal prime minister.
Labus added that G17 Plus, the former independent economic think tank which last week announced its transformation into political party, would seek consensus on a national strategy for the next five or ten years.
