Ambassador Vujacic: Cooperation is our mutual interest
WASHINGTON - Yugoslav Ambassador to US Ivan Vujacic has voiced his
expectations that the newly elected US Congress will re-establish
trade relations with Yugoslavia and that no new conditions would be
stipulated.
"I expect the normalization of trade relations and encouragement to
investors. Trade between Yugoslavia and America almost does not
exist. That is neither natural nor good, because I believe that
cooperation is our mutual interest”, Vujacic told the daily Vecernje
novosti.
Asked when Yugoslavia would be given access to its frozen funds kept
with American banks, Vujacic said that an American delegation is
preparing to visit the countries of former Yugoslavia in order to
resolve the dispute concerning the former funds of the National Bank
of Yugoslavia.
"We are not part of the problem, we have accepted the terms offered
by the American administration and I hope that this problem will be
resolved within the next few months”, said Vujacic.
