Speaker to call elections 'by February 8'
BELGRADE – The speaker of the Serbian Parliament must decide on a date before February 8 next year for holding new presidential elections, the president of the Constitutional Court said today.
Slobodan Vucetic said that the law prescribed a sixty-day deadline from Sunday’s failed elections, but that speaker Natasa Micic was free to set any date within that.
The decisive factor in the issue, said Vucetic, was the lack of political consensus within the governing DOS coalition on holding new elections.
