Importers issue false invoices to evade state levies - Dinkic
BELGRADE - National Bank of Yugoslavia (NBY) Governor Mladjan Dinkic said on Wednesday that due to false invoices, Yugoslavia's 2002 imports seemed to be lower by about 30 percent or by about one of the presented 4.3 billion dollars and invited tax organs to impose a tax on unpaid import in order to prevent the evasion of payment of levies.
Dinkic told a news conference that these were most frequently off-shore companies, registered in tax haven countries, from which (except Austria and Switzerland) goods worth about 15 million dollars of goods were imported, while payments amounted to just about 500 million dollars.
