Six public companies in protest
BELGRADE - Protest of around 2,000 members of several Serbian public company unions in has begun around 4 p.m. in front of the Serbian Government building.
Participants of the protest, who blocked the traffic in Nemanjina Street in central Belgrade, demand a contract with Government which would recognize them a status of equal social partners in the process of public sector's privatization.
Unions demands clear definition of the union and government's position in the process of collective negotiations under the Labor Act, as well as the signing of agreed collective contracts for public companies.
The demands also include abolition of decrees on minimum work for public companies and replacement of Labor Minister Dragan Milovanovic.
The protest includes unions of the Serbian Power Grid Company, the Serbian Oil Industries, the Serbian railway workers, the Telecom Serbia, the Serbian Postal Services and the Telecom Union.
