Micic: Not my obligation to call elections within sixty days
BELGRADE - Serbian Parliament speaker Natasa Micic has said that it is not her obligation to call new Serbian presidential elections within sixty days.
Serbian election legislation stipulates that the Parliament speaker has sixty days to decide whether or not he or she would call new elections, Micic told the media in the Serbian Parliament.
She said that the calling of new elections is a matter of an agreement, of a widest political consensus and that “this decision will certainly not be taken by one man”.
Micic added that the law does not define the duration of her interim mandate, and added that legal experts like Serbian Constitutional Court judge Slobodan Vucetic should be asked to interpret and explain these provisions.
