More medical workers in protest march
JAGODINA/NIS - A group of medical workers, members of the Nezavisnost union from Cuprija, Paracin and Rekovac, have joined the Nis medical workers marching to Belgrade in protest against low salaries.
President of the Nezavisnost union in the Cuprija Health Centre Milan Stankovic said that 14 medical workers from Cuprija, Paracin and Rekovac joined their Nis colleagues who have set off to Belgrade by foot yesterday morning.
He added that another 80 workers will travel to Belgrade by bus tomorrow.
Dissatisfied medical workers from the northern province of Vojvodina and central Serbia are to meet tomorrow at 10.30 a.m. in Belgrade, in front of the Serbian healthcare ministry building.
Union members demand seven per cent increase of the December salary and 20 per cent increase for the next year.
Serbian healthcare ministry told the striking workers that the budget contained no resources for the December salary increase.
