Serbian premier says gasification project would help resolve debt problem with Russia
BELGRADE - Serbian Premier Zoran Djindjic said Wednesday evening on his return from Berlin that a proposal was made in his talks there with Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Kasyanov that the Russian Gazprom company could take part in a gasification project in Serbia, which would partly resolve the problem of Serbia's 250 million dollar debt to Russia for gas deliveries.
Both Russia and Serbia hope that an energy strategy for the next 10-15 years would be defined for gas supplies, whereby Serbia would not only import gas, but would become a part of a network with the maximum participation of the consortium created by Gazprom and German Rurgas, Djindjic said.
